After 60 minutes of free practice, the battle for the best grid started with the qualifying. Tim Heinemann reached the pole position just ahead of the favorite Ren\u00e9 Engelhardt. Bruno Spengler started on position 10.[\/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=&#8221;2669,2670,2671,2672,2673,2674&#8243; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; custom_links_target=&#8221;_self&#8221; mode=&#8221;horizontal&#8221; speed=&#8221;5000&#8243; slides_per_view=&#8221;4&#8243; autoplay=&#8221;yes&#8221; hide_pagination_control=&#8221;&#8221; hide_prev_next_buttons=&#8221;&#8221; partial_view=&#8221;&#8221; wrap=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text]Right at the beginning of the race it got straight to the point in the virtual Lausitz. Ren\u00e9 Engelhardt and Tim Heinemann, both in DTM Mercedes AMG C-Coup\u00e9, drove full line of battle. Even before the first curve, Ren\u00e9 Engelhardt got into the front after a perfect start before Heinemann and Niklas Marquardt, who has started from position 4.<\/p>\n<p>While others were struggling with several accidents after the first hairpin, a dramatic head-to-head duel was going on in the front. The Mercedes drivers Engelhardt and Heinemann were separated throughout the race by less than a second.<\/p>\n<p>Several times, Heinemann was searching for a gap in order to get the victory before Engelhardt, but he remained unbeatable until the last second and was able to fend off any attempt.<\/p>\n<p>After 20 laps and a time of only 30:55.809, Ren\u00e9 Engelhardt won the race just ahead of his closest rival Tim Heinemann, who reached the finish line with only 0:00.165 min distance. Third placed was Davide Toccaceli in the Audi RS 5 DTM. Bruno Spengler was not able to defend his great fifth place from the total standing and finally finished the race on sixth place.
